On Thursday night, officers were called to the 1700 block of Forest Drive to investigate a reported homicide, where they found Allison Faye McIntyre suffering from a gunshot wound inside her vehicle in a parking lot.

Paramedics treated McIntyre at the scene of the shooting, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle - a blue Toyota Camry with Maryland plates - and Annapolis resident Monet Thompson, 49, was identified as a possible shooter.

Investigators say that working around the clock, Thompson was ultimately located and an arrest was made by SWAT officers overnight.

She was being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center as of Friday afternoon.

“We are confident we got the right person,” Annapolis Police Chief Edward Jackson stated. “We will continue working with the State’s Attorney to prosecute the case to the fullest extent of the law.”

It is not believed to have been a random incident, and it was later determined that the two knew each other.

The homicide remains under investigation, though a motive has not been determined.

"This was a frightening incident in our community, and we recognize the difficulty for the community to understand why it occurred," Jackson continued. "We hope to better understand why one person would take the life of another, but at this point, we are not prepared to reveal a motive."

Charges have not been announced.
